Three players who could replace Harry Kane at Tottenham this summer including shock Arsenal star

Tottenham face a battle to keep star striker Harry Kane at the club over the next year or so as the club's all-time record goal scorer nears the end of his contract. There's no doubt that the England captain has cemented his legacy in N17 since breaking into the first-team, but the absence of trophies is notable.

It's the elephant in the room that come the end of his career, Kane may not be able to avoid in any discussion should he miss out on the glory that his individual performances perhaps deserve. Chairman Daniel Levy has since spoken out on his future, claiming the 29-year-old can win trophies at the club.

Speaking in an interview at The Cambridge Union last month, Levy said: "[Kane] can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs, But being a legend is also important. The fact that he's top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur - he's making history. I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium."

While all the discussion is around keeping Kane on for the long-term, the planning should be based around the possibility that the striker does move on. So with that said, here's a look at a few options that the Lilywhites could turn to in the summer transfer market to futureproof themselves.

Folarin Balogun

Very rarely do players cross the divide in rivalries from one team to another, but this summer presents an opportunity to land a surprising option from down the road. North London rivals Arsenal have had success as of late, but with it comes a potential lack of opportunity for some youngsters, including striker Folarin Balogun.

The 21-year-old has impressed on a loan spell with Reims, where he has scored 18 goals with three assists in 30 Ligue 1 appearances this season. That's a goal every 41 touches of the ball, bettering Kane's of one every 46, though there may be questions over whether it's too soon to make such a leap in place of the striker or whether opportunities would be too limited behind Kane if he were to stay for another year.

Ivan Toney

A player that has taken the step from Championship to Premier League football with relative ease has been Ivan Toney, who continues to impress since promotion with Brentford a few seasons ago. The former Newcastle has managed to earn England call-ups for his performances, where goal scoring has come at a breeze.

It's not just his goals that make Toney a valuable asset, but his all-round play where he manages to bring others into the game has been a highlight of his game. It would make the transition beyond Kane much simpler, given a similar style, albeit with perhaps slightly less quality.

Ollie Watkins

Staying in the sphere of buying proven Premier League experience, there's few better options than Aston Villa talisman Ollie Watkins at this moment in time. The England international has continued to find the back of the net since the arrival of Unai Emery at the club, firing the Villains into European contention.

Watkins has plenty to offer out of possession as much as in the box and could be the ideal option for a short-to-medium-term signing.
