Three people taken to hospital and road closed after crash on A69 in Northumberland on Easter Sunday

The A69 eastbound is closed this afternoon after a two-vehicle crash in Northumberland.

The crash occurred around midday between the Oatens Bank junction in Horsley (B6528) and Styford Roundabout near Corbridge.

Emergency services were called to the scene and five people were treated for minor injuries, three of whom were taken to hospital. The road remains closed with diversions in place until the vehicles involved are recovered.

A statement from the Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service read: ""We received a call at 12:07pm on Sunday 09 April of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the A69 at the Stamfordham turn off eastbound. All appliances have now left the incident but the road will remain closed eastbound until recovery operations are complete."

The North East Ambulance statement also issued a statement, which read: "We were called at midday today (April 9) to attend a two vehicle collision on the A69. We dispatched three ambulance crews who treated five patients with minor injuries and conveyed three to hospital."

Northumbria Police were also approached for comment.
