Three people have been hospitalised following a collision on a busy main road which locals say is dangerous. The crash happened at the A40 in Raglan on Saturday, June 4 at the junction between Monmouth Road and Groesenon Road.
Gwent Police officers attended the scene on Saturday at 4.10pm along with the fire service and paramedics following the two-vehicle collision, and those injured were conveyed to hospital shortly afterwards. The operation required fire crews from Abergavenny, Ebbw Vale and Monmouth stations.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said crews worked to “stabilise the vehicles” and “used specialist hydraulic equipment to safely extricate three people”. The operation lasted for more than an hour.

Locals are now calling for more to be done to ensure better safety for motorists at the junction, where you must turn right onto the main road from Monmouth Road to get on to the westbound carriageway. Community councillor Julian Dyer said the community will renew its calls for a roundabout at the junction after “multiple collisions there”.
Mr Dyer added that some parents in the area were no longer allowing their children to get the school bus because it crosses the junction. “Some people - like my wife - just won’t travel along the road anymore because it’s too dangerous,” he said. “They’d rather take a three to four mile detour through country lanes.”
A spokesman for Gwent Police said: “Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact us. You can call us on 101 or send us a direct message on Facebook or Twitter, quoting reference 2200186765. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
