Three people have tragically died and four have been injured in a horror crash between a BMW and a Mercedes, police have said.
The two cars, described by Sussex Police as a white BMW 220 and a grey Mercedes C200, crashed on the A285 at Duncton, near Chichester, West Sussex about 7.30pm yesterday.
Three people who were in the BMW were declared dead at the scene - and a fourth person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Three more people who were in the Mercedes were also taken to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries, another with serious injuries and a third with minor injuries.
A section of the road was closed following the crash but has since reopened, Sussex Police said.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone who saw either of the two cars in the area or captured any footage on dash cam to get in touch.
The force said in a statement: "Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision at Duncton, near Chichester.
"The incident involving a white BMW 220 and a grey Mercedes C200 occurred on the A285, between Keepers Cottage and Little Farm Campsite, about 7.30pm on Saturday 10 June.
"Three people from the BMW were tragically declared dead at the scene; a fourth person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"Three occupants of the Mercedes were also taken to hospital – one with life-threatening injuries, one with serious injuries and a third with minor injuries.
"Anyone who saw either vehicle being driven in the area around that time, or captured any relevant footage on dash cam, is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting serial 1542 of 10/06.
