Three people dead in Melbourne after separate stabbing, shooting incidents

A burning car was found several streets away from where a man was found dead in Mickleham. (ABC News)

Police say a man shot dead in Mickleham, in Melbourne's north, overnight was the victim of an organised hit.

The man, 22, was found dead in Bangalore Way after police were called shortly after midnight.

A silver BMW was found on fire several streets away, and detectives now say the vehicle appears to have been used by whoever shot the man.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Mick Frewen said the shooting appeared to have been "well organised."

"The people that arrived in that street at that time came prepared for violence, they were armed, they had a vehicle that we believe obviously had been burnt out and they obviously wanted to destroy evidence," he said.

The man who died was known to police but was not a "significant" crime figure.

Detectives said the man left his home and had a short discussion with a number of men in the BMW just prior to the shooting.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident or the vehicle which was later set alight, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Two men killed in Brunswick stabbing incident

Investigations underway after fatal double stabbing in Melbourne

Detectives are yet to question a woman who was arrested, covered in blood, on a tram shortly after a double fatal stabbing in Brunswick.

Emergency services responded to a call at 5:20am at an address in Hope Street, Brunswick, and treated a Coburg man, aged 61, who had stab wounds.

The man died on the way to hospital.

Police then found a 59-year-old Brunswick man dead at the same address.

The Brunswick woman, 44, was later arrested on a tram headed towards the city.
