Before we get our driving licences, everyone has to take a practical test which can be tricky to pass first time.
Failing a driving test can be a tough experience, and it can knock your confidence, especially if you’ve failed a number of times. Not only that, but there can be a lengthy wait for another test to become available, and the lessons you take in between can cost a significant amount of money.
To pass the test, you'll need to make no more than 15 driving faults, commonly known as "minors".

Any serious or dangerous faults, known as "majors" will automatically result in a fail. With this in mind, Comparethemarket has looked at information released by the government to reveal the most common reason learners fail their driving test.
The three most common mistakes learners make on their driving test are:
- Not making effective observations at junctions
- Not using mirrors correctly when changing direction
- Not having proper control of the steering
The study also reveals the best and worst month to pass your driving test. With a 51.4% pass rate, February is officially the best month to take your driving test while November and December are the worst (46.8% pass rate).
