Three more people have died in our area after contracting coronavirus.
The latest figures show that more than 1,000 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the Bristol region today (Friday, February 11). Although case numbers fell in Bristol and Bath and North East Somerset, both North Somerset and South Gloucestershire saw a rise.
A total of 1,302 new cases of Covid were confirmed today, bringing the region's total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 312,406. This marks a fall in new cases overall today after 1,425 new cases were recorded yesterday.

Sadly, a further three people died in our region within 28 days of a positive Covid test, bringing the total number of lives lost in our region since the pandemic began to 1,796.
The downward trend in cases that we have seen over the past couple of days is similar to the national picture; cases have fallen across the UK by 28.7 per cent over the past seven days, marking a significant drop.
Meanwhile, the number of deaths has also taken a sharp drop at the national level; there has been a decrease in the number of deaths from Covid of 22.5 per cent over the past seven days. This is a significant drop after a period where the number of daily deaths was staying rather stable.

The number of people patients admitted to hospital has also fallen by 11.4 per cent over the past week in the UK, which is a continuation of a sustained fall in hospitalisations over recent weeks from a peak in late December. For all the latest Covid news in and around Bristol, click here.
The number of positive test results in each area of the Bristol region since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results recorded today in brackets:
Bath and North East Somerset: 47,927 (+179) down
Bristol: 136,028 (+520) down
- North Somerset: 51,809 (+262) up
- South Gloucestershire: 76,642 (+341) slightly up
