Three moments missed from Man Utd vs Leeds including Dan James shunning handshake

Leeds United and Manchester United rolled back the years with a heated encounter at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

It was the first time Leeds have hosted United in the Premier League - without Covid restrictions - since October 2003.

And boy, was it worth the wait.

Ralf Rangnick's men sealed a 4-2 victory during a six-goal thriller, but with nine players booked during the game, including six for Leeds - it was a proper throwback game.

Tempers flared on several occasions, especially one incident towards the end of the match as players had to be separated after Raphinha took exception to a challenge from Scott McTominay.

Unfortunately, the game was marred by a Leeds fan who struck Anthony Elanga in the head with a coin.

With so much going on, there is plenty that went unnoticed throughout the 90 minutes.

Here are the moments missed from Sunday afternoon.

James shuns handshake

No love was lost for Daniel James and his former team as he was embroiled in an off-field row with Luke Shaw.

The winger, who spent two years at Old Trafford before sealing a £25million move to Leeds in the summer, shunned his former teammate as he tried to help him up after taking a blow to the face.

James was floored by a challenge as Shaw went over to check on the Welshman.

But James had no plans to entertain the United defender's peace offering as the pair exchanged some words, shortly before the match exploded into life.

Pogba trickery

Paul Pogba was one of the standout performers for Rangnick's side so it came as a surprise when the Frenchman was taken off in the second half when the game was hanging in the balance

The interim boss put on Fred, a decision that was vindicated however as the Brazilian went on to score the go-ahead goal as United took a 3-2 lead before Elanga wrapped up the three points.

Pogba was a huge reason why they raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first half and was at his brilliant best with his trickery in full flow.

At one point, he cleverly flicked the ball over Adam Forshaw during a United attack - a brilliant piece of skill.

And the midfielder wanted to double-check his teammate Fernandes had seen it as he gestured to the Portugal star at full-time.

Sancho's copycat celebration

Jadon Sancho channeled his inner Bruno Fernandes as he pulled out the playmaker's celebration.

The former Dortmund winger produced one of his best performances of the season with two assists against Leeds.

The first being for Fernandes who doubled United's lead just before the break.

Fernandes is renowned for putting his hands over his ears when he celebrates goals which Sancho decided to replicate on Sunday.

Fernandes pulled up his teammate on Instagram after the match, saying: "That celebration looks familiar."

Sancho responded: "Silence em."
