Three men injured during vicious acid attack in Cork as gardai appeal for witnesses

Three men were left injured, two of them in hospital, after a vicious acid attack assault in Cork on Friday evening.

The shocking incident took place at a residence on the Connolly Road in Ballyphehane, just outside Cork city.

At around 8.20pm, a man in his 30s confronted a group of three men, with one man in his 40s and another man in his 30s being injured during the incident.

Both of those were taken to Cork University hospital, while a third victim, another man in his 30s, was treated for injuries at the scene.

The suspect was arrested in relation to the incident and appeared before a special sitting of Cork District Court over the weekend.

Now, Gardai are looking for help from the public with their investigations.

A spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Investigating gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are also appealing to anyone who was in the Ballyphehane, Togher and Bandon Road areas of Cork City, between 8:00pm – 9:30pm on the 4th March, with camera footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to them.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bridewell Garda Station on 021 494 3330, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."

CorkBeo are reporting that the two hospitalised men suffered suspected acid burns to the faces and upper bodies - Cork City Fire Brigade had to set up a decontamination tent outside the home on the southside of the city to give emergency treatment to the victims.

One of the men, aged 45, suffered the worst injuries after liquid was poured onto his head, face and upper body.
