WA Police have charged three men over the alleged kidnapping and extortion of a 68-year-old Chinese man.
Police say the man arrived in Perth on Sunday, April 23, from China, via Melbourne.
He was travelling with a 29-year-old man who he had met regarding a business deal.
Once the pair arrived in Perth, police say, they were taken by an associate of the younger man to a home in Caversham.
Police allege the 68-year-old was held at the property against his well, and was assaulted a number of times.
It is alleged members of the man's family were then contacted, and were asked for money to secure his release.
Police said officers from the Financial Crimes Squad forced their way into the property last Tuesday, where they found the man with "various injuries".
Three men — aged 29, 31 and 37 — have each been charged with kidnapping and demanding property by written threats.
The 29-year-old and 37-year-old appeared in Midland Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Both will appear in court again next month.
The 31-year-old appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
