Trio set for tour chance to impress Pep Guardiola despite transfer interest
A trio of City's most promising youngsters will be handed the chance to earn their place in the first-team squad next season.
Liam Delap, James McAtee and Kayky have all played for the senior side and have impressed enough in academy games for there to be strong interest from other clubs in taking them either on loan for the upcoming season or on a permanent deal. But while the players could push for a move before the transfer window closes, they are set to return for pre-season training with Pep Guardiola on Monday before heading on tour to the United States with the rest of the squad.
City are still finalising the makeup of a squad that has seen more change than usual this summer. The club do not intend to stop despite adding two forwards, a midfielder and a backup goalkeeper to the group, while Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling are among the significant departures.
Erling Haaland shirt number confirmed
City have confirmed Erling Haaland will wear the number 9 shirt following his blockbuster transfer.
Having been priced out of a swoop for Harry Kane last summer, figures responsible for incomings and outgoings at the Etihad Stadium turned their attention to Haaland and promptly won the race for his signature. Haaland cost the club £51million and will be expected to spearhead their domestic and European charge next season.
In addition to the Norway sensation, Guardiola has also signed England midfielder Kalvin Phillips and Argentina prospect Julian Alvarez in a bid to shake up his star-studded group. Gabriel Jesus has already left, while City duo Nathan Ake and Raheem Sterling are set to follow with Chelsea wanting their services.
