THREE major projects designed to protect coastal communities from the threat of erosion have been completed in Moray.
The three “vital” projects were completed by the council in Kingston, Findhorn and along multiple other locations across Moray in a bid to tackle the “serious issue” of coastal erosion in the area.
Among the projects completed were a 50cm shingle bank that was built in Kingston, between Lein Car Park on the west side of the village, and the main shingle ridge at the lagoon on the east side.
Meanwhile, a large boulder known as rock armour has been placed on Findhorn Road and coastal monitoring stations have been installed at several locations across Moray.
The local authorities said the monitoring stations will allow residents to take photos of the coastline and help them monitor changes over time.
Chair of the Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, said it is vital that the council continue to adapt and respond to coastal erosion.

He said: “These projects are important steps forward in ensuring the long-term protection of our costal communities; and are examples of the ongoing work to tackle the serious issue of coastal erosion across Moray.
“It’s vital that we continue to adapt and respond to the challenges posed by coastal changes and these measures are an important part of that process.”
