Three Louisiana police officers were wounded by gunfire on Sunday during a standoff with a man suspected of shooting three other people in the past week. The incident took place at a home in Kenner, located about 15 miles west of New Orleans.
The injured officers were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. As of now, their current conditions have not been disclosed to the public. The standoff led to a significant police presence in the area, with SWAT team officers surrounding the residence where the suspect was holed up.
According to Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley, the suspect had been involved in a shooting earlier on Sunday, resulting in injuries to two individuals. Additionally, the same suspect is believed to be connected to a separate incident last Tuesday, where a man was critically wounded in a holdup and shooting.
Despite the ongoing standoff and the injuries sustained by the officers, no arrests have been made at this time. The situation remains fluid as law enforcement officials work to resolve the standoff and bring the suspect into custody.
Authorities are urging residents in the area to remain vigilant and cooperate with any instructions given by law enforcement personnel. The safety of the community is of utmost importance as the situation continues to unfold.
