After the crash, the road was shut off near the Junction Inn pub as emergency services responded. It was closed in both directions until at least 6.30am this morning as accident investigation work was carried out.
Pictures taken last night showed a large emergency services presence at the scene. The two cars appeared to have been left badly damaged in the smash.
One appeared to have had its roof cut off by firefighters. The scene is now clear with the road reopened.
