On Sunday, a single-engine plane crashed near a dragstrip in Pomona, California, causing injuries to three individuals on board. The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. close to the dragstrip, where fans had gathered for a racing event. The Federal Aviation Administration reported that the Piper PA-32 crashed, striking at least two parked vehicles on the ground.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the spectators on the ground. The plane was believed to be attempting to land at the nearby Brackett Field Airport when the crash occurred, as stated by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).

Of the four individuals aboard the plane, three were taken to the hospital for treatment. Two of them sustained critical injuries, according to LA County Fire Captain Sheila Kelliher-Berkoh. Images and videos from the scene depicted emergency crews working in a parking area adjacent to the track, where several parked vehicles were visibly damaged.

The crash disrupted the NHRA finals that had commenced on Thursday at the raceway. Racing activities were temporarily halted as emergency responders attended to the situation, but the event later resumed. The Federal Aviation Administration has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
