Three Glasgow teens charged for alleged 'racist attack' on Buchanan Street

THREE teenagers have been charged by police over an alleged racist attack in Glasgow city centre on two Indian students.

The two women claimed they were attacked on Buchanan Street on May 15 "without any provocation," according to Indian news website The Quint, who first reported on the alleged attack.

They also alleged that they were subjected to "racist and xenophobic slurs".

Police Scotland said officers were called to a report of a disturbance around 10:55pm on Monday, May 15.

A 14-year-old male youth and two 15-year-old female youths have been charged in connection with the alleged incident.

Reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and Youth Justice Management Service, police added.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.55pm on Monday, 15 May, 2023, police were called to a report of a disturbance on Buchanan Street, Glasgow.

“A 14-year-old male youth and two 15-year-old female youths have been charged in connection with the incident.

“Reports will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and Youth Justice Management Service.”
