Three Georgia Bulldogs players are suspended for at least part of the Florida Gators game.
Georgia defensive back Joenel Aguero is suspended for the first half of the Florida game after getting a targeting penalty in the second half of Georgia’s win over Texas. Georgia had a bye week after the Texas game and targeting penalties in the second half of a game automatically require a suspension for the first half of the next game.
Aguero was not the only Dawg to get a targeting penalty in the second half against Texas. Safety Dan Jackson also was assessed a targeting penalty versus Texas and will miss the first half against Florida due to the automatic suspension. In the secondary, Georgia will ask KJ Bolden and JaCorey Thomas to play more snaps in the first half.
“I’m not really worried about it. It is what it is right now,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said about Aguero and Jackson being suspended for the first half. “Our guys are trying to get ready for Florida, and we’re going to prepare to play Florida.”
Georgia is also without wide receiver Colbie Young, who is suspended indefinitely after he was arrested a few days before the Mississippi State game. Georgia is also without wide receiver Anthony Evans, who suffered an injury ahead of the Florida game.
