USA TODAY projects that three Georgia Bulldogs will go in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. Detroit, Michigan, is hosting the draft from April 25-27.
Head coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have been on a historic NFL draft run. The Bulldogs have had 25 players drafted over the last two drafts.
Georgia has a large number of candidates to be selected in the draft. The Bulldogs will have to replace a lot of NFL talent again for the 2024 college football season. In fact, Georgia already has had 11 players declare for the draft.
What Georgia Bulldogs will go in the first round of the draft according to USA TODAY?
No. 10: Tight end Brock Bowers
USA TODAY projects that Brock Bowers will be the first tight end drafted. Bowers would join quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets if things go as projected.
Bowers, meanwhile, boasts the superlative ball skills and run-after-catch ability to be an immediate asset in the passing game as someone who can help ease the burden on Garrett Wilson.
No. 18: Offensive tackle Amarius Mims
Georgia right tackle Amarius Mims is one of the most talented offensive linemen in the draft. However, Mims battled an ankle injury in 2023 and has limited starting experience. He’s projected to go to the Cincinnati Bengals in this mock draft.
A replacement for Jonah Williams at right tackle should be on the to-do list, and the 6-7, 340-pound Mims’ massive potential makes him an attractive long-term bet.
Mims would be a critical addition for the Bengals as they look to protect Joe Burrow.
No. 31: Cornerback Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter showed that he can hang with NFL-level talent when he blanketed star Missouri receiver Luther Burden in 2023. USA TODAY has Lassiter providing a boost to the San Francisco 49ers’ pass defense in their mock draft.
Lassiter is one of the most pro-ready defensive prospects in this class thanks to his schematic versatility and route recognition.
Potential first round pick: Wide receiver Ladd McConkey
- Predraft ranking: No. 58 (per Tankathon)
Ladd McConkey’s quickness and route running should give him a chance to be a late first round pick. McConkey battled an ankle and back injury in 2023, but was extremely productive when he was healthy.
Potential first round pick: Safety Javon Bullard
- Predraft ranking: No. 57
Javon Bullard provides tight coverage and is a sound tackler. One NFL team could fall in love with Bullard and end up taking him late in the first round.
