Three flood alerts in place across Merseyside

There are a number of flood alerts in place across the country today, with some affecting areas of Merseyside.

Despite there not being much rain on the forecast today, after a wet day yesterday and another one to come tomorrow, people are being warned of flooding. The nearest flood warnings to Liverpool are at the River Alt, Formby to Huyton, River Dutton with catchment areas including Huyton-with-Roby and River Sankey with catchement with St Helens and Warrington.

According to the Gov.UK website, the alerts means that some flooding is possible in these areas, though not guaranteed. Today, on Tuesday, November 22, the Met Office reports it will be largely dry across Liverpool but it will be chilly in the evening.

There are some mist and fog patches on the weather forecast for the night, though this begins to clear in the early hours as cloud builds ahead of rain. Into Wednesday, it will be wet and breezy as rain sweeps through, heavy at times.

Into Thursday and the weekend, further bands of rain will move across the region, bringing with it strong winds. The BBC outlook for the week reads: "Thursday will be windy and wet with a band of rain moving in from the west, clearing later to sunny spells and blustery showers.

"Friday is expected to see a few showers in the morning, but there will otherwise be plenty of sunshine, and showers will ease later in the afternoon. Saturday looks to be dull and overcast, with outbreaks of rain soon spreading across from the west."
