'Three families' lives will have been ruined': Street in shock after Salford suspected murder

A street has been left in shock after two men were arrested over the suspected murder of a 40-year-old man.

Eight houses were cordoned off, with residents reporting several police cars, ambulances, armed police, CSI vans and at least a dozen detectives quickly descending on the scene.

A murder investigation has now been launched, with the cause of death still being investigated, GMP said.

The victims identity is yet to be confirmed.

One man who lives just outside the cordon, Adam Crosby, said he saw people stood outside the house around 9pm.

He said: “Police came and entered the house before coming out soon after. It looked like they arrested the person stood outside then.

“Soon after that some ambulances, loads more police, even armed police, with CSI vans arrived, they were everywhere.

“There were at least a dozen detectives on the scene soon after too, it was very worrying.

“We asked an officer if it was bad and they replied ‘the worst’ which was horrible to hear.”

A cordon was in place until late afternoon with many people driving past asking what was going on, only to be shocked at the news it involved a murder.

Neighbours told the MEN that the residents of the cordoned off house had only moved in recently.

Another resident said they had no idea what was going on with police suddenly filling the street. The surrounding streets began to fill with residents trying to find out what was going on, they said.

One resident on Dalton Drive behind the cordon, said: “There seems to have been a lot of incidents around here recently, it’s horrible to see this happen so close to home.

“It’s shocking. Three families’ lives will have been ruined.”

Detective Inspector Mark Davis, of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: "We have launched a full investigation to ensure the person or persons responsible are brought to justice.

"We are working on identifying the victim and the circumstances that have led up to his death. There is not believed to be any wider threat to the public.

"I would urge anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant, to get in touch with police as a matter of urgency as any information could prove pivotal to our investigation."
