Three Dead, 10 Injured In Fordyce Grocery Store Shooting

An unfortunate shooting incident outside a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, on Friday morning resulted in three fatalities and at least 10 individuals sustaining injuries, as confirmed by the Arkansas State Police.

Among the wounded were two law enforcement officers, fortunately with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Arkansas State Police Secretary of Public Safety and Director Mike Hagar.

The alleged shooter, identified as Travis Eugene Posey, 44, from New Edinburg, Arkansas, is now in custody after an exchange of gunfire with state police. Posey is set to face three counts of capital murder, with additional charges pending, as stated by state police officials.

Director Hagar expressed deep sorrow over the tragic event, emphasizing that the victims' injuries range from non-life-threatening to critical. He extended prayers and support from Governor Sanders and the entire state of Arkansas to the affected community and victims.

Witnesses at the scene described a chaotic situation, with reports of multiple rounds fired and victims being evacuated for medical treatment. Local agencies swiftly responded to the incident, with law enforcement personnel actively engaged in securing the area.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders acknowledged the gravity of the situation, commending the swift and heroic actions of law enforcement and first responders. She assured that efforts were ongoing to assist those impacted by the distressing incident.

Residents of Fordyce expressed shock and disbelief at the violence that unfolded in their community, emphasizing the need for unity and compassion in the face of tragedy. Local leaders and community members rallied together, offering prayers and support for all those affected.

The White House also acknowledged the incident, with the President being briefed on the situation and receiving regular updates on the unfolding events.

Fordyce, a small town with a population of approximately 3,200 residents, now grapples with the aftermath of this unforeseen tragedy, located about 65 miles south of Little Rock.
