Andhra Pradesh: Three Class X girls feared drowned in Chintoor

Three girls who had come as part of a school picnic to the Potluru waterfall were feared drowned in the Sokileru stream near Chintoor town in ASR district on Monday.

The girls, students of Class X at Sri Hanumagna High School in Chirala town of Bapatla district, had come as part of a school picnic to the waterfall.

“The deceased girls have been identified as Gummadi Jayasri, Suvarna Kamala, and, Geetanjali, all aged 14. Their bodies have been retrieved,” Chintoor Sub-Inspector B. Yadagiri told The Hindu.

Mr. Yadagiri said that the bodies were sent to the government hospital in Chintoor for post-mortem. The family members of the deceased have been informed about the incident. Police registered a case and an investigation is on.
