Three Chelsea players Thomas Tuchel will be hoping benefit from the international break

Chelsea have had their season put on hold for two weeks as the international break returns for March, with a number of players called up to represent their nations. The Blues will be hoping that when the players return, they all report back fit and healthy.

However, Thomas Tuchel will also be hoping a number of players can return from action with a bit of form to take into the final stretch of the season. The side still have to secure a top four finish for this season in the Premier League.

Elsewhere, they still have key knockout games against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals as well as an FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace at Wembley. It presents yet another opportunity for Tuchel to guide his side to another final and more silverware.

With all that said, here’s a look at a few players that could benefit from being away on international duty.

Timo Werner

The 26-year-old has struggled with form this season, often starting from the bench or in cup games at times. Matches for Germany in the break may give him the opportunity to get back into the goals and find some much-needed confidence.

The forward has already scored in his first match for his nation, finding the net alongside teammate Kai Havertz in a friendly against Israel.

Christian Pulisic

Similar can be said of the American winger, who has shown his ability in sparks this season but rarely with any consistency. He will be a key player for his nation, placing a lot of responsibility on him to show up and perform.

USMNT face Panama on Monday, before travelling to Costa Rica on Thursday for World Cup qualifiers.

Romelu Lukaku

While the Belgian needs some form and goals too, he may benefit from the break in a different way. The 28-year-old was one of a host of senior players left out of Roberto Martinez’s squad for the international break.

While it may provide a break for the forward, it could also give him a warning that he may have to improve if he wishes to compete in Qatar for the World Cup later this year.
