A three car crash on the M8 has caused rush hour chaos in West Lothian.
The accident took place shortly before 8.30am between Junction 5 and 4A on the Eastbound carriageway near Harthill on Monday, November 28.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Trauma Injury Severity Score (TRISS) scrambled to the busy motorway to assist the victims. They remain in attendance for nearly two hours.
Photos taken at the crash site, which were shared on social media, show major congestion in the second lane of the busy road, with vehicles at a total standstill as far as the eye can see. In the adjacent lane, traffic flows freely.
Transport bosses have advised commuters that they may face a lengthy wait of up to 20 minutes when passing through the affected area.
It is understood that no one has been seriously injured or required hospitalisation as a result, but police have said that a male driver has been reported in relation with road traffic offences.
A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: "M8 Junction 5-4A The Eastbound carriageway lane two remains restricted due to a collision. Police and TRISS are in attendance. Traffic is building up on approach."
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Around 8.25am on Monday, 28 November, 2022, police received a report of a road crash involving three vehicles at Junction 5 of the M8 eastbound.
"There are no reports of any injuries. One man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with road traffic offences."
