Three arrested after over €1 million worth of cocaine seized at Dublin Airport

Three men were arrested after cocaine with an estimated worth of €1.1 million was seized at Dublin Airport.

Revenue officers seized around 16kgs of cocaine as part of an intelligence-led operation. The massive sting was as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and law enforcement agencies in Germany and South America.

Gardai arrested three men at the scene. They were taken to Blanchardstown and Coolock stations with investigations ongoing.

A garda spokesman said: "Three men were arrested in the environs of Dublin Airport by An Garda Síochána in connection with this seizure.

"They are currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Blanchardstown and Coolock Garda Stations.

"Investigations are ongoing."

A Revenue spokeswoman said: "This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
