Three areas of the Liverpool City Region have seen a jump of at least 40% in new positive covid tests.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, in the week ending July 2, the three areas that logged increases of at least 40% were Knowsley, Halton and Sefton.

Respectively, the week-on-week percentage change figure rises were: 42%, 43% and 41%.
The other three areas of the city region also logged rises in positive covid tests in the week ending July 2. The week-on-week percentage change figure increases were: 27% in Liverpool; 37% in St Helens; 38% in Wirral.
The Liverpool City Region recorded 4,464 cases, which is 1,183 more cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 36% in the Liverpool City Region in the week ending July 2.
Cheshire West and Chester, West Lancs and Warrington, all recorded rises too.
In England, the week-on-week percentage change figure went up by 28% in the week ending July 2.
Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,265 cases in the week ending July 2, which is 272 more cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 27%. The latest infection rate was 252.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 1,006 cases in the week ending July 2, which is 279 more cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 38%. The latest infection rate was 310.2 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 416 positive tests over the last week - that's 125 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 43% in Halton in the week ending July 2. The latest infection rate is 320.6 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 540 cases in the week ending June 27, which is 146 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 298.2 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 37%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 422 cases in the week ending July 2, which is 125 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 276.8 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure rose by 42%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 815 cases in the week ending July 2, which is a 236 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 295.4 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases rose by 41% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 4,464 positive tests over in the week ending July 2, which is 1,183 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change rose by 36%. The latest infection rate is 262.17 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 602 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 2, which is 115 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure rose by 24%. There was an infection rate of 287.49 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 1,042 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 2, which is 258 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure rose by 33%. There was an infection rate of 303.06 per 100,000 people.
West Lancs
There were 266 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 2, which is 30 more cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate in West Lancs is 232.32 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage rose by 13% in cases.
England
In the week ending July 2, England recorded 144,023 coronavirus cases, which is 31,122 more cases than in the previous seven days. The week-on-week percentage rose by 28% in England. There was an infection rate of 254.68 per 100,000 people.
