Thousands of people can travel for free over the coming days on the Dart, Luas, and Dublin Bus for the Bank Holiday weekend thanks to an initiative announced by Transport for Ireland.
Anyone who holds a Leap Card will be able to bring a plus-one on board with them across TFI trains, trams, and buses for no additional cost this weekend.
The deal came into effect on Friday, February 3, and will remain active until Monday, February 6.

All customers have to do is present their TFI Leap Card to pay for their journey or validate a pre-loaded ticket as normal and bring someone along for free for the duration of their journey.
The offer is valid on the following transport over the weekend:
- Bus Éireann (excluding Expressway)
- Dublin Bus
- Go-Ahead Ireland
- Luas
- TFI Local Link
- Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail
- DART and Commuter Services on the Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail short-hop zone
- Cork Commuter Network
If you have a valid Monthly/Annual ticket on your Leap card you can use it to avail of this promotion on the train services for which your ticket is valid – excluding Cross Border travel.
Speaking about the launch, Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan TD said: “The TFI Leap Card has gone from strength to strength and it continues to expand with the rollout of the young adult Leap Card.

“Over 80,000 young adult cards were purchased from July last year to the end of the year.
“Public transport customers across Ireland are responding positively to our improved and expanded services on the network with passenger numbers, now back to pre-Covid levels.
“Ireland is one of the few European countries where public transport has bounced back in such a strong way.
“This Leap +1 means that even more people can experience what our public transport system has to offer.
“It’s an initiative that’s good for friends and family and that’s good for our environment, as we enjoy this first February Bank Holiday.”
