The Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Al Schmidt, announced on Thursday that despite Republican Senate candidate David McCormick being declared the winner over longtime Democrat Sen. Bob Casey, thousands of ballots are still awaiting counting.

Schmidt emphasized that the Department has been in contact with counties to ensure a secure election process where every eligible vote is accounted for. He stated, 'We estimate there are at least 100,000 ballots remaining to be adjudicated, including provisional, military, overseas, and Election Day votes. We urge patience as election workers continue to do this important work, especially in contests where the margins are very close.'

The ongoing ballot counting process is crucial to ensuring that all votes are accurately tallied and that the election results reflect the will of the voters. Schmidt's statement underscores the importance of allowing election workers the time needed to complete their tasks diligently and accurately.

As the race for the Pennsylvania Senate seat continues to unfold, the focus remains on the meticulous counting of remaining ballots to determine the final outcome. The Secretary of the Commonwealth's reassurance of a thorough and secure election process serves as a reminder of the dedication and commitment of election officials to uphold the integrity of the democratic process.
