Thoughtful Paisley youngster bouncing his way through fundraiser for Ukraine

A thoughtful youngster is bouncing his way through a fundraiser challenge which has already raised more than £1,000 for people impacted by the war in Ukraine.

Generous Brody Wood, nine, came up with his unique challenge all by himself in the hopes of collecting vital funds for those in need of support.

The Bushes Primary pupil plans on doing 100,000 bounces on his trampoline in the month of March, and has already been completing 3,300 jumps a day since starting two weeks ago.

Brody has been out in the back garden of his home in Paisley for an hour every day, rain or shine, to ensure he will make his target by March 31.

He is almost at the halfway mark, having completed more than 40,000 bounces.

His mum Elizabeth even took the determined youngster to a trampoline park on a recent trip to Middlesbrough so he could make sure he got his 3,000 jumps done.

His stellar efforts have already raised £1,060 for the Disasters Emergency Committee which is helping the millions of people who have been forced to flee Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict in February.

His proud dad Richard told the Paisley Daily Express: “We are really proud of him. He came up with the idea by himself as he wanted to do something to help.

“Some children had been talking about Russia in the playground so when he came home from school and asked about it we explained to him what was happening.

“I think it made him think and he decided he wanted to do something for the people being affected.”

With the help of his parents, the Paisley youngster worked out just how much he would have to jump every day in order to get to 100,000.

His proud family have been impressed by his dedication, and his younger siblings Logan, eight, and Rebecca, four, are out cheering him on and joining him on the trampoline.

Richard added: “He goes out in the morning and sets his timer and does 15 minutes before he goes to school and when he comes home after school he’s straight back out - sometimes before I;m even in the door with his brother and sister.

“He’s really determined and he’s totally made up about how much money he has managed to raise.

“He has done so well so far and still has a good few weeks left to go.”

His fundraiser has already received dozens of messages of support from friends and family.

One person posted: “Mr Moseley and I are so, so proud of you! This is an amazing achievement!”

Another added: “What a jumping good effort Brody for a worthy cause! Well done.”
