Thorpe Park has announced plans for a brand new rollercoaster which will become the tallest in the UK, according to a website dedicated to theme park rides.
The Surrey-based theme park already boasts an impressive resume when it comes to rollercoasters including both Stealth and Swarm - the last to open at the resort in 2012.
However, Thorpe Park's proposed latest addition - which could be ready for 2024 - would undoubtedly become the star attraction, reports Surrey Live.
According to RideRater, the proposals were initially unveiled at a special in-person presentation for local residents on Thursday.
The online website also reports that the 236ft rollercoaster would be the tallest in the UK, beating the 213ft (65-metre) above ground record held by the Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach since 1994.
Now further details have been shared online via the Thorpe Park website and members of the public are being asked to submit their feedback on the proposals via a public consultation.
It is holding a public consultation that closes on January 7, 2022 allowing members of the public to submit feedback on the proposals.
The resort said in a statement: "The Covid-19 pandemic has had, and continues to have, a significant impact on admission numbers to the Resort. Thorpe Park Resort aims to continue to invest in the Park’s attractions to encourage more people to return to the Resort now that the tourism industry has re-opened.
"This key investment and the introduction of new attractions is critical to the Resort’s recovery from the Covid-related impacts on the business.
"With this in mind, we are delighted to announce that we are proposing to add an exciting new rollercoaster to Thorpe Park Resort’s portfolio of world-class attractions. This will be the first new rollercoaster at Thorpe Park since the arrival of THE SWARM in 2012."
