Thor reveals what Eddie Hall must do to secure boxing rematch

A rematch between Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson is unlikely to happen. The Icelandic giant confirmed after his victory against Hall on Saturday that he is not seeking a second fight.

Bjornsson - known as Thor - defeated Hall on points in the heavyweight clash, having twice knocked the British strongman to the canvas. The pair embraced after the bout and were seen in close conversation.

Bjornsson, who played the Mountain in Game of Thrones, revealed to reporters what was said in the post-fight chat. Both fighters had previously indicated they would be open to a rematch.

But Bjornsson said: “I’ve moved on, I told him good job, it was a hell of a fight. Congrats to him for all the hard work he’s been putting in.”

Bjornsson added that he would only grant a rematch if Hall is desperate for it to happen. “I respect him (Hall) as an athlete but I just want to move on. Honestly I really wouldn’t want a rematch because I want to move on.

“I don’t really want to communicate with him. We’re not going to be best friends, that’s just a fact. But if he wants the rematch I’ll give it to him 100 per cent.”

Hall won World’s Strongest Man in 2017 while Bjornsson took the title off him a year later. Both men drastically cut their weight ahead of the grudge match in Dubai.

Bjornsson lost a total of 55kg, preparing by fighting in a number of exhibition boxing bouts. Meanwhile, Hall trained with world champions boxers such as Lawrence Okolie ahead of Saturday's fight, having recovered from his previous injury.

The pair agreed that the prize money for the fight would be a donation to charity. Both Hall and Thor agreed that they will both donate $200,000 to a charity of the winner’s choice.
