Can you believe that Trevoh Chalobah hasn't played a single minute of football in the last three Chelsea games amid their latest defensive struggles? The Blues defence just hasn't been the same since they became the victims of a rare thrashing by Brentford over a month ago. Since that game alone, Thomas Tuchel's side have gone on to concede 13 goals in the nine fixtures that have followed the west London derby defeat.
Under a new Todd Boehly era which is officially expected to be getting underway at the end of May, as long as the UK Government and Premier League sign off the deal which was announced early on game-day, all attentions will immediately turn to the transfer market, with the American consortium likely to support Tuchel financially.
Defensive reinforcements will be the main area of recruitment, with Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen all set to depart and move to La Liga in the summer. Currently, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Chalobah himself will be part of the current Blues cohort which is expected to be strengthened going into 2022/23. The manager though has already given his reasons as to why the 22-year-old hasn't been seeing regular game time in recent weeks. He explained ahead of Arsenal: "It’s hard decisions at the moment. Maybe he feels these decisions are against him but for other players. We had recently Reece James playing in his position in the back three because of his physicality, his speed against key players on the left side from opponents.
"Trevoh played a lot and a very, very good season so far. He had a little dip of form some weeks ago but since many weeks he is back in full shape in training."
