Thomas Tuchel's 'excellent player' considering Chelsea exit after Roman Abramovich decision

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is reportedly considering leaving Stamford Bridge amid the uncertainty caused by Roman Abramovich's decision to sell the club.

The Russian confirmed the decision last Wednesday, just an hour before the Blues kicked off in the FA Cup against Luton, and much speculation has emerged regarding what it could mean.

Abramovich has been owner of Chelsea for nearly 20 years, in which time the club have won every trophy available to win, but a report from Spanish outlet Sport suggests the effects of the decision are being felt in the dressing room.

Jorginho has been a pivotal part of Thomas Tuchel's success at Stamford Bridge, forming a partnership with N'Golo Kante and they won the Champions League last season.

But now the 30-year-old has one eye on a return to Italy amid the new uncertainty in west London.

Football Italia state that with the midfielder's contract up in 2023, the club would be willing to sell Jorginho in the summer to avoid losing him on a free year.

While he could be offered a new contract, his age and the current uncertainty surrounding Chelsea's hierarchy means it seems unlikely.

While Chelsea are constantly on the lookout transfer solutions, this would prove a significant blow to Tuchel - not least as it could further instability in the dressing room.

Speaking in 2021, Tuchel lauded the Italian's influence.

"He is a very intelligent player and it is a pleasure to be his coach. He has a great vision of football," Tuchel said of Jorginho's chances of winning the Ballon d'Or back in December.

"For me, individual prizes do not have great significance, it is impossible to make a real comparison between several players of different roles.

"I would like one of my players to win it because I would know what the effect would be.

"Then Jorginho is a good person and an excellent player, but in general it (winning an individual prize) is not the most important thing."
