Thomas Tuchel's controversial Cristiano Ronaldo decision proven right after heated Al-Nassr rant

Cristiano Ronaldo launched a verbal attack on the Al-Nassr coaching staff after the Saudi Arabian outfit headed into the half-time break 1-0 down to Al-Wehda in the King Cup of Champions semi-final.

The 38-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer before leaving Manchester United with immediate effect in November.

An explosive TV interview with Piers Morgan proved to be the final straw for Erik ten Hag — and the Red Devils hierarchy. United were said to have been 'furious' after Ronaldo's outburst caught them by surprise, with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner claiming that he felt betrayed.

The Red Devils sought legal advice and his contract was ultimately terminated. Naturally, some of the wealthiest clubs in Europe were rumoured to be interest in Ronaldo, but he joined Al-Nassr instead.

While the veteran striker has scored plenty of goals in Saudi Arabia, he seems to have a few problems on his plate. At the start of the month, Ronaldo was involved in a tense post-match interview after Al-Nassr were held to goalless draw by by Al-Feiha in the Saudi Pro League.

Then, on Monday night, he was involved in another spat. Upon the half-time whistle, Ronaldo was visibly annoyed and he was seen angrily gesturing towards his side's dugout. He and his teammates later re-emerged but they couldn't find an equaliser in the second-half.

According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs in the summer, Tuchel was a primary 'roadblock' in negotiations when Todd Boehly tried to sign Ronaldo. Following his latest outburst, the German's decision has been proven right, with Chelsea facing enough controversy as it is at the moment.
