What a beautiful sight, the third instalment of Chelsea beating Tottenham in 2022, and we aren't even out of January yet.
Three consecutive clean sheets as Thomas Tuchel uses Tottenham to help gain some confidence going into the second half of the season.
They have one league game in February, with the focus now turning to cup competitions. The Blues now have a 13-day break till they play again, which comes at home against Plymouth in the FA Cup before they travel to Dubai for the Club World Cup.
The one Premier League game will be away against Crystal Palace before focus again turns to cup competitions with fixtures against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final and the first leg of the Champions League against Lille.
Yet another fixture against Tottenham, yet another win and a clean sheet as Tuchel gets three back to back wins over former manager Antonio Conte.
Tuchel has had a few question marks put on him in recent weeks after a slump in form with his high standards of winning taking a hit.
One of the question marks came in starting Hakim Ziyech regularly from the start, but after back to back league goals, it really looks like the Moroccan is starting to gain confidence and show the form which made Chelsea sign him from Ajax for £33m.
The change of formation to a back four and the full-backs now giving more licence to the attacking players to supply the outlet has given the 28-year-old a new lease of life. Ziyech is looking more confident and with that comes him trying his trademark long-range efforts and them ending up where he would like them to go.
The way Tuchel has got confidence in his players, who the fan base had started to lose patience with, is a beautiful sight to see. No Chelsea fan likes to complain about a player not doing well in a Chelsea shirt.
Chelsea fans were well aware Kepa Arrizabalaga would have to be the number one goalkeeper in January, with Edouard Mendy representing Senegal in this year's AFCON tournament in Cameroon. This gave some fans sleepless nights, no need to worry as the break-in playing seems to have done him the world of good.
The Spanish shot-stopper has gone about his business in the background with no mentions of him being upset with losing his spot or wanting out.
The world record £72m goalkeeper signing has had to wait for his chance all season and came up with the goods more times than not. He has slowly gained confidence again with penalty shootout saves against Villareal in the Super Cup win and Carabao Cup shootout saves against Aston Villa and Southampton.
With three clean sheets against Tottenham this month, he probably wishes he could come up against the London rival a lot more regularly. As Lionel Richie sang, easy like Sunday morning.
This could be precisely what the 27-year-old might need to kick on in his career with fears of his unpredictability around the fan base dwindling.
Enjoy your week off. You've given the fan base something to cheer about. We all can't wait for the second half of the season to start, and hopefully, we have a cup or two in the back pocket before we finish next month.
