Thomas Tuchel plays down Todd Boehly 'advantage' talk after Chelsea vs Wolves

Thomas Tuchel has played down talk that Chelsea can now benefit on the pitch after the statement confirming Todd Boehly's consortium have agreed to terms to become the new ownership group of the club. Tuchel was speaking after his Blues side threw away a two-goal lead against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea are now in a race to secure a place in this season's top four, with Arsenal four points below their London rivals. If the Gunners can beat Leeds United on Sunday, they will move within a point of the Blues.

Tuchel, though, has denied that the ownership situation has had an impact on the side's performances, with Chelsea winning just two Premier League matches since the start of April. "I don't think ownership is a reason for lack of focus. We showed when the situation began that we can still focus," the Chelsea head coach said.

"I would not consider this as an advantage for Leeds. It does not change much for us as the sanctions are not lifted. It's not worth thinking about, we have our own stuff to solve and make better."

Boehly was in attendance in the West Stand as Chelsea threw away a two-goal lead against Wolves. Romelu Lukaku scored a double to put the Blues 2-0 ahead, but goals from Francisco Trincao and Conor Coady earned the visitors a point.

Tuchel was also asked about how his Chelsea side ended up not winning the match. The German said that his side were set up in a very offensive manner, and this was always going to be a risk.

"I thought we started both halves well with an offensive 5-3-2," Tuchel explained. "We knew about the risks, and we need to be disciplined.

"We showed discipline over most moments of the first half. In situations, we touch too much risk.

"That costed us some dangerous moments at the end of the first half. We were unlucky not to score, unsure if it was a foul in the first half.

"Reminded the players at halftime to stick to the plan. We were 2-0 up, and against it, we took too much risk. We invited the counter-attacks and big chances. Once you do this, you lose confidence and invite the opponent to smell something is possible when it is unnecessary."
