Thomas Tuchel has had direct contact with Raheem Sterling over a move to Chelsea this summer, according to the Telegraph. The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, amid uncertainty surrounding his future.
The 27-year-old has one-year remaining on his deal at the Etihad Stadium, raising questions over his stay beyond the next season. Despite the contract situation, the Citizens aren’t looking to let Sterling leave cheap, with Sky Sports reporting that they want upwards of £50million.
Reports have also suggested that the forward has asked around about what life is like at Stamford Bridge as well as playing under Tuchel. It comes ahead of a huge summer window for the German coach.

The end of the previous season saw the Blues limp to third in the Premier League, suggesting a refresh to the squad is in order. Add to that the loss of some key players, as well as others set to follow soon after, and it makes for a busy period.
Discussing the challenge of the transfer market, Tuchel said: “We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge.”
With contact being made over Sterling, it could see the England international become the first signing through the door. Given his winners mentality, it could be a statement of intent from the Blues ahead of any more activity.
