Thomas Tuchel given easy £36m transfer decision that hands Chelsea perfect Antonio Rudiger heir

Leicester City have taken interest in Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill following his impressive displays on loan at Huddersfield Town this season, according to The Athletic.

The 18-year-old centre-half has made 20 appearances for the Terriers, guiding them to within a point of the play-offs as he grows into one of the Championship's leading defenders.

Colwill's exciting form has reportedly attracted the attention of the Foxes, who have 'considered trying' to sign the England youth international on loan for the remainder of the season, as per The Athletic.

Leicester's interest in the latest star to emerge from Cobham hands Thomas Tuchel, a major boost as the west Londoners plot their transfer plan, which could save Roman Abramovich £36 million.

Colwill has predominantly operated on the left of a back-three for Huddersfield, enjoying much of his success threading passes through the lines into his midfielders, winning aerial duels and defending well.

Earning his trade as he juggles the physical, mental and technical challenges that the Championship has to offer makes him the ideal replacement for Antonio Rudiger, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season.

Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta also see their deals in west London come to an end this summer, leaving the door open for Colwill to stake his claim under Tuchel.

While there may have been hesitancy whether to fast-track the teenage Cobham graduate into the first-team next season, Leicester's latest interest in Colwill has not just sent Tuchel a sign that he's ready but also a warning that Chelsea must not to reignite their pursuit for Wesley Fofana.

According to Goal, the Blues are keen to sign the Foxes defender, despite having been injured all season after suffering a broken fibula and ankle ligament in a pre-season friendly.

Fofana, whose contract at the King Power Stadium doesn't expire until 2025, is valued at £36 million by Transfermarkt.

If there was any doubt as to whether Chelsea should put all their eggs in one basket and hand Colwill the keys to Tuchel's defence, there shouldn't be anymore.

With Thiago Silva by Colwill's side, the west Londoners can excavate their next rough diamond and prioritise other areas of the team.
