Thomas Tuchel gets Eden Hazard Chelsea repeat as Romelu Lukaku moment poses Haaland question

That was lovely, wasn't it?

Chelsea got their first Premier League win of 2022 and how desperately Thomas Tuchel needed it after the bitter aftertaste of the defeat to Manchester City and draw to Brighton.

Against their bitter foes, Tuchel's men once again proved their quality and injected a sense of optimism to end a challenging January on a massive high.

The 2-0 win means Chelsea have beaten Spurs three times in January with an aggerate scoreline of 5-0. Thomas Tuchel also becomes the first Chelsea manager to win five consecutive games against Tottenham via Expected Chelsea.

In today's Good, Bad and Ugly... We have a lot of good to get through regarding Chelsea with some standout display and a moment of genius.

Sadly the bad will revolve around Romelu Lukaku, who fluffed his lines whilst Antonio Conte fumes.

Good - Hakim Ziyech repeats Hazard class.

The last time I wrote one of these, we were bemoaning Hakim Ziyech's lack of accuracy after the defeat to Manchester City. But on Sunday, his accuracy was spot on with one of this season's goals of the season.

His wand of a left-foot made west London standstill as the ball dropped below Hugo Lloris' crossbar to send the Matthew Harding Lower into raptures.

It brought me back to Eden Hazard's wonderful curled strike against Spurs in May 2016, a goal that has been replayed repeatedly since. This finish will have a similar effect in years to come.

The Moroccan's overall display was really good also, producing several exquisite crossfield passes and continually showing up in the dangerous areas.

Undeniably the man of the match, this can hopefully prove a major turning point for Ziyech, who now has two league goals in a row.

Bad - Lukaku poses Haaland question

Although his play improved as the game progressed and Chelsea took control, Romelu Lukaku did little to silence critics.

He awkwardly fluffed several opportunities in the first half, completely kicking the air for another as Mason Mount delivered great crosses into the box.

The 4-2-4 system is helping Lukaku get into the right channel more and place more bodies around him, but he needs to be taking those chances.

Chelsea had initially pursued Erling Haaland last summer, and his performance for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday offered that ruthless touch the Belgian has lacked.

Ugly - Conte's Spurs

There was a lot of hype surrounding Spurs dramatic comeback against Leicester in midweek, but here they stereotypically folded at Stamford Bridge when hit with a setback.

Maybe next time, Harry, don't push an opponent in the back, and you may actually get your goal.

As Conte looked on aimlessly as his side slowly crumbled, you were reminded that the once lauded Italian is the only Blues coach to lose at home to Spurs in the league in 36 years, a sign of how bad things got in that miserable second year.

Conte is a brilliant coach, but his uninspiring setup and approach seemed to be designed to send a message to his board than actually compete against a laboured Chelsea.

Tuchel and Chelsea are not complaining as they head into a mini-break full of joy.
