Thomas Tuchel escapes Roman Abramovich red flags as Chelsea's objective failures are assessed

There is an asterisk around this season and the question is, would Thomas Tuchel have survived Roman Abramovich. Fans suggest that the German is actually lucky that the Russian oligarch was sanctioned before witnessing what could be a torrid end to the season.

Thomas Tuchel has a Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup to his name since joining the Blues in January last year. It's absolutely ludicrous to even think about sacking him. It just wouldn't make sense. However, there are many sackings that Chelsea managers have endured that did not make sense. Tuchel can put his trophies on the table but Abramovic could still make the call as Chelsea's seasonal objectives have not necessarily been met.

For the record, I would be furious at the thought of Thomas Tuchel leaving the club. I envision him as a Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp for Chelsea. It's actually fortunate that he has been given enough downtime to really assess the team without pressure of being sacked from up top. Of course, his future remains uncertain without new ownership confirmation; however I doubt that Todd Boehly (Chelsea's preferred bidder) would have any issues with these red flags.

Thomas Tuchel has suffered yet another Wembley loss. It would have been a necessity to attain another domestic trophy however Chelsea have fallen short once again. If there is one thing that Roman Abramovich hates, it's losing. Getting to a final is not enough for the Russian. Last season, Chelsea fell short to Leicester in the FA Cup final, earlier this year, they lost to Liverpool on penalties, and now they will face the reds once again in another Wembley final.

In an alternate world, the upcoming FA Cup final will be the last chance for Tuchel to impress Abramovich. His brutal judgement of managers implies that it would be a must-win match if the German would like to continue at the club. Another loss would just be icing on the cake, there are other factors that would lead to this decision.

Chelsea started off the season as favourites to win the Premier League. Piggybacking from their Champions League success, it's only right to maintain the momentum and bring home the league title. It was always going to be a tough task with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool as competition, but it was definitely something that the Blues were capable of attaining. There are some decisions that will probably haunt the Chelsea boss. The main one would probably be, what if he took off Ben Chilwell one minute before the challenge that took him out of the season against Juventus back in November. The injury arguably tipped our fortune on its head as the team became extremely unbalanced.

The flow was disrupted within the team, but it's not an excuse for the gap created between us and Liverpool and Manchester City. We currently sit 16 points behind Liverpool and just 5 points in front of Arsenal. Abramovich would be asking, how on Earth we got here.

It's a harsh reality, but this season has not actually been a good one for the Blues. In hindsight, it's been pretty bad. We've let multiple results slip and we now find ourselves trying to survive a top 4 battle. Luckily, the fans see a vision and have taken such a strong liking to Thomas Tuchel. He has won over many of our hearts. Despite the ambiguity left behind by Abramovich's departure, it's sort of a blessing in disguise. Tuchel will have more time to plan another season at Chelsea and hopefully, his vision will be fulfilled.
