The inquest into the death of Thomas Kingston will be opened on Friday.
A court official said the inquest will open at 2pm at Gloucestershire Coroner's Court. It came as friends of Mr Kingston, the husband of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent's daughter Lady Gabriella Kingston have told of their deep shock at his sudden death aged 45.
The son-in-law of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent was found dead in Gloucestershire on Sunday. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances over the death of the financier and former hostage negotiator.A source close to the family said Kingston and Gabriella had no known relationship or financial problems.
A friend of the pair, who married at Windsor Castle in 2019, told The Times: “They remained childless but were happily married until the end.”
Another friend who spoke to the couple at a party at the National Gallery last week told the Daily Mail: “They seemed happy and positive as ever. Ella was particularly chatty.”
The Vicar of Baghdad also paid tribute to the late devout Christian. Reverend Canon Andrew White, who managed Iraq's sole Anglican church and worked with Mr Kingston in Baghdad, recalled their shared love for adventure and numerous narrow escapes.
Mr Kingston, having worked almost three years in war-ravaged Iraq to mediate conflicts and negotiate hostage releases, was hailed by Rev White as his “best ever intern”.
“I worked with Tom in all sorts of dangerous places. Most of the time we were there in the middle of war zones”, he said, adding he was “a risk-taker and a person of great faith”.
He said: “Tom wasn't a yellow-belly. He was never scared. I could never say to him 'do this' and he'd say it was too dangerous. He was always willing to be there.”
In a tribute Lady Gabriella called her financier husband an “exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him”. A statement issued with his family added: “His death has come as a great shock.”
His sudden death on Sunday aged only 45 shocked the royal family.
The King and Queen sent their “most heartfelt thoughts and prayers” to Lady Gabriella, known as Ella, and Mr Kingston's family.
An inquest will establish the cause of death but there are no suspicious circumstances.
The news followed a day of royal drama as Prince William mysteriously pulled out of attending a memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece at the last minute for unspecified “personal reasons”.
Kensington Palace would not elaborate on why he could not be there but reported that the Princess of Wales, who recently had abdominal surgery, continued to do well.
Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Lady Gabriella's parents, both attended the memorial service at St George's Chapel, Windsor. It is understood Prince William's absence from the memorial was not linked to Mr Kingston's death.
King Charles was also absent as his cancer treatment continues, leaving Queen Camilla as the most senior royal in attendance.
Constantine, who died in January last year, was William's godfather. He died aged 82, decades after being toppled from the throne in a coup.
