Thomas Frank comments on Nottingham Forest transfers as Frank Lampard makes prediction

Good morning Nottingham Forest fans!

Here are the latest Forest headlines from in and around the City Ground on Saturday, August 20.

Gibbs-White first words

Nottingham Forest's new number 10, Morgan Gibbs-White, has said Steve Cooper was the "biggest influence" in his decision to join the club.

Gibbs-White was confirmed as Forest's 16th signing of the summer when he arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday, signing a five-year deal at the City Ground. Cooper was keen to secure the midfielder's services having been a fan of his talent after coaching him at both Swansea City and with England's Under-17s.

Fans have say on Gibbs-White signing

Nottingham Forest supporters have been reacting to the news that Morgan Gibbs-White is now a Red.

Gibbs-White has taken up the vacant number 10 shirt, with fans celebrating his arrival and debating where he will fit into the Forest team under head coach Steve Cooper.

The 'Cooper Effect' has been praised after Gibbs-White turned down a late move from Everton, who Forest face at Goodison Park this weekend. Below is a look at what some fans have been saying on social media.

Everton attempted 'hijack'

The transfer of Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves to Nottingham Forest was almost "hijacked" by Premier League rivals Everton.

It is being reported that Everton were "pushing very hard" to "hijack" the deal last night (Thursday), matching the initial £25million up front fee that Forest had agreed with Wolves. Talks with Forest had progressed too far, though, and a move to the City Ground was virtually sealed.

That's according to the Telegraph, who also note Gibbs-White was keen to play for Cooper again and that was a deciding factor in his decision. The 22-year-old midfielder's arrival at Forest was confirmed on Friday morning.

Lampard makes Forest prediction

Frank Lampard has admitted it has been "difficult" to prepare for Nottingham Forest's visit following Steve Cooper's additions to his squad.

Forest have welcomed 16 new signings to the club thus far this window, with the latest being Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. It has certainly been a busy period at the City Ground but the Reds are determined to excel in their return to the English top-flight.

Forest will make the trip to Merseyside on Saturday (3pm), on the back of their first league win against West Ham last weekend. Former Derby County boss Lampard revealed it has not been straightforward planning for the game because of those signings.

James Garner message

Former Nottingham Forest loanee James Garner has celebrated Morgan Gibbs-White's move to the Reds.

Forest confirmed the arrival of the 22-year-old Wolves midfielder on a permanent deal earlier today, sparking a response from his Manchester United counterpart.

Garner posted a picture to his Instagram story of Gibbs-White wearing a Forest shirt at the City Ground after the move was confirmed. He tagged Gibbs-White's handle and added three 'love heart eyes' emojis. He also wrote "Let's gooo" with a red heart emoji.

Thomas Frank has say on Forest's spendings

Brentford boss Thomas Frank says Nottingham Forest's big summer spending shows the difference in budget between the two clubs in the Premier League.

Forest have made a 16th addition to their squad in the form of Morgan Gibbs-White, in a deal worth a reported over £40 million after add-ons.

Meanwhile that figure is what the Bees have spent on all five of their signings this window: Aaron Hickey, Keane Lewis-Potter, Thomas Strakosha, Ben Mee and Mikkel Damsgaard.

Rivals in advanced talks over Reds' transfer target

Fulham are reportedly in 'advanced talks' to sign Brighton and Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay amid recent interest from Nottingham Forest.

The 26 year-old had been on Forest's radar this summer as Steve Cooper continues to revamp his squad having welcomed 16 new signings this window. Following the latest arrival of Morgan Gibbs-White, it is reported that the Reds' interest has since cooled down.

The deal is said to be worth £15 million, as reported by The Athletic, and it adds that a proposed move is not yet done but negotiations are moving "towards an agreement."
