Thomas Courto farewelled a year after Tasmanian man died at sea in triple tragedy

The final victim of an ill-fated Tasmanian boating trip that claimed the lives of three friends has been laid to rest almost a year on from the incident, but loved ones' search for the vessel continues.

Thomas Courto, Bree-Anna Thomas and Isaiah Dixon set out on a trip from Wynyard in Tasmania's north-west on October 18 last year but failed to return.

Ms Thomas and Mr Dixon's bodies were found washed ashore two days later.

Despite an extensive water, air and land search, there had been no sign of 27-year-old Mr Courto until a recreational diver found a bone belonging to him near Table Cape in April.

Police divers searched the area for three days following the discovery, but the rest of his remains and the boat have never been found.

Family and friends gathered in Burnie on Friday to pay tribute to a "great mate" who was "incredibly resilient and courageous".

"Thomas, I miss your existence and all that came with it. I love you my son," a tribute from Mr Courto's mother, Kylie, read.

Mr Courto's family thanked the people who had been involved in initial search, as well as those who were continuing to search now.

"On behalf of his family, deepest thanks are extended to search and rescue teams, divers, the many people that put their boats on the water, and the countless community members who have continually searched the coastline," the funeral's celebrant said.

"You have given them the strength, patience and hope to continue the search for Thomas and to bring him home."

His family has vowed to continue the search in the hope of learning what caused the tragedy.

The search was one of the largest marine searches ever undertaken on the state's north-west coast, with sonar technology used to map and search the sea floor.

The police investigation has concluded and the deaths are currently being investigated by the coroner.
