This weekend's GAA Championship fixtures

The 2022 Championship season moves up a notch this weekend with some mouth-watering clashes in both football and hurling.

The action gets underway tonight at Brewster Park as Tyrone and Cavan meet in the Ulster U20 Football Championship final.

The attention moves to West Belfast on Saturday afternoon as Corrigan Park hosts the meeting of Antrim and Cavan in the Ulster Senior Football Championship.

The Saffrons fought hard for their right to host the game, but now they must try and defeat the newly-crowned Division Four champions.

The hurling Championship continues on Saturday with the two in-form teams in the country meeting at the Gaelic Grounds as All-Ireland champions Limerick host League champions Waterford.

There is also a full programme of Joe McDonagh, Christy Ring, Nickey Rackard and Lory Meagher Cup games on Saturday and Sunday.

Ballycran hosts the all-Ulster Joe McDonagh Cup clash between Down and Antrim on Sunday afternoon.

Darren Gleeson’s men made a winning start to their campaign last season by claiming a last-gasp win over Offaly in Corrigan Park.

Yet, Down are a team on the rise and clinched a brilliant victory over Kerry in Tralee in their opening game and Ronan Sheehan’s side will relish the opportunity to get one over on their provincial rivals.

In the Ulster Senior Football Championship, the build-up to Donegal’s clash with Armagh has dominated the headlines in recent days and there’s every reason to believe this game will live up to the hype.

In Connacht, there’s also the small matter of Mayo versus Galway in Castlebar while Tipperary host Clare in Sunday afternoon’s Munster Senior Hurling Championship fixture.
