This weekend’s Edinburgh Rugby match to be streamed on TV for free

This weekend’s Edinburgh Rugby game in the Heineken Champions cup against Saracens will be streamed on free to air TV.

Edinburgh Rugby, who are enjoying a comfortable 6 th place position in the United Rugby Championship, will travel to STONEX Stadium in London on Sunday, December 11, to take on Saracens.

Saracens, who are flying high, unbeaten at 1 st place in the Gallagher Premiership rugby league, will be looking to continue their unbeaten season.

Professional club rugby is not usually shown on free to air TV and is usually streamed on services like BT Sport and Premier Sports that usually have a subscription fee.

On this occasion, however, the agreement between the EPCR (European Professional Club Rugby) and commercial networks including ITV/STV agree that they will show one Heineken Champions Cup match per round in the UK and Ireland, including the final.

This has been welcomed by many Edinburgh Rugby fans. Gayle Mackie said “delighted to see it’s on ITV. More free games on free to air channels can only be a good thing for non-travelling fans.”

Another keen spectator of rugby, Jimmy McIntosh agreed with Gayle and said, “If it encourages more people to be able to watch and play the game of rugby, it has to be a good thing.”

This will be Edinburgh’s first game in the European competition this year but fan favourite, Darcy Graham will not be playing due to an injury he picked up in Edinburgh’s recent game against Munster.

The game will be streamed on ITV/STV as well as BT Sport with coverage beginning from 2:45pm and the game kicking off at 3:15pm this Sunday, 11 th December 2022.
