This Week in AI: NotebookLM Gets Mindmap, ChatGPT’s New Challenger, Copilot Updates, and More

March is ending, but AI updates are showing no signs of slowing down. Last week, NotebookLM introduced a new Mindmap feature, ChatGPT got a new competitor, Microsoft released its Copilot updates, and much more happened.

However, I understand that the AI space is moving so fast that keeping up with all the updates can be challenging. That’s why I’ve compiled all the major AI updates from last week in this article. So, without further delay, let’s dive in!

NotebookLM Gets a New Mindmap Feature

Google Labs’ experimental tool, NotebookLM, has introduced a new Mindmap feature. The rollout was announced by Google Labs lead Simon on his X account, where he described the vision behind Interactive Mindmaps as creating “personal sets of interactive understanding toys” to help users learn through play.

While Google hasn’t released official documentation about the Mindmap feature, the post on X and the video shared by Simon indicate that the feature will allow users to visualize information instead of relying solely on text or static images.

ChatGPT Has a New Challenger—at Just 1% of the price!

Chinese AI models are making waves when it comes to affordability and performance, and DeepSeek is a great example of that. Now, a new AI model from China is giving tough competition to both ChatGPT and DeepSeek. Baidu, often called the Google of China, has announced two new AI models: ERNIE 4.5 and X1.

X1 is a deep-thinking reasoning model with multimodal capabilities, while ERNIE 4.5 is the latest foundation model and a next-generation native multimodal model. Both models are currently available for free via the ERNIE Bot platform. For enterprise users and developers, ERNIE 4.5 is accessible via APIs on Baidu AI Cloud’s Qianfan platform.

Microsoft Copilot Can Now Help You Shop Smarter!

Microsoft has rolled out several new features and updates for Copilot, but the one that caught my attention is the Price Tracking feature. Remember when we had to download third-party extensions to find the best deals and track product prices? That’s now a thing of the past. Copilot users in the U.S. can now track a product’s price and even receive price drop alerts.

xAI Launches New Grok API for Developers

xAI, the company behind Grok, has been on a spree of launching APIs ever since its first release in November last year. Now, the company has launched a new API that supports image generation. While xAI hasn’t revealed the pricing for its latest API keys, they are expected to be on the higher end of the spectrum.

Nvidia Releases Llama Nemotron AI Reasoning Models

Nvidia introduced a new set of AI models called Llama Nemotron at its GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2025. These models focus on reasoning and are designed to help AI agents handle complex tasks. Nvidia says they are built for developers and businesses to create AI agents that can operate independently or in teams. The Llama Nemotron models and Hugging Face are now available on Nvidia’s platform.

OpenAI Unveils o1-Pro API for Developers

OpenAI has released an API for its recently launched o1-pro AI model. According to the company, this new API offers better responses than any of its existing models. However, it is also OpenAI’s most expensive API to date, costing $150 per million input tokens and $600 per million output tokens.

Meta AI Rolls Out in Europe with Limited Features

Meta AI is finally coming to European countries, nearly 1.5 years after its initial release. However, the company is not rolling out all features, as certain functionalities will be disabled in the region.

That’s a wrap for this week’s AI updates. If you want to stay updated with the latest happenings in AI and business tech, follow Geekflare on Google News. We’ll keep you posted!
