A local Mosque is inviting anybody who is struggling for food to join them in breaking their fast during Ramadan. The Faizan-e-Islam Mosque is running an 'Iftar programme' to help ease the burden of the cost of living for residents in the Old Trafford area.
The programme will be running once every week for the remainder of Ramadan. Leaders at the Mosque are also hoping to 'break barriers' by connecting with people who are keen to learn and understand more about the Muslim community and their faith.
Muslims are currently observing the holy month of Ramadan where they must abstain from food and drink during the day for 30 days. The fast is broken at sunset with a large meal called 'Iftar'.

During the holy month of Ramadan, it is common for Mosques to provide meals for worshippers. The food is usually in large quantities and depending on how big the Mosque is, hundreds can be fed every night for 30 days.
Leaders at the Faizen-e-Islam Mosque say they want to extend their hospitality to members outside of the Muslim community and hope to make the programme a regular one well after Ramadan.

President of the managing committee, Haji-Mohammed Maqbool-Ahmed, said: "Things are tough, some people are struggling. This is our blessed month and it will please Allah.
"We want to share the blessing with everybody, we have a lot of love to give. We open our doors with love, we want people to come in and let us break down the barriers with people.
"We want absolutely anybody and everybody, no creed, religion, or colour is exempt. We just want them to come here and share a meal with us, sit with us, talk to us.
"Any issues as well, we're here to help. We're part of the society, we're part of the community."
The Faizen-e-Islam Mosque is found on Ayres Road, Old Trafford behind the cricket ground and next to the tram stop car park. The next sessions will take place on 4th April at 7.30pm, 11th April at 7.30pm and 18th April at 8.00pm.
