This Steph Curry quote from last season after the Warriors play-in tournament loss turned out to be absolutely right

The Golden State Warriors are back in the NBA Finals after not even making the postseason over the last two seasons.

Last year they were absolutely humbled by the Memphis Grizzlies when everyone just assumed the Warriors would make it in as the 8th seed. Instead, they were eliminated in the NBA’s Play-In tournament. And while it might’ve been fun to see the Warriors play the Jazz in place of the Grizzlies, we didn’t get it.

Afterward, though, Steph Curry had some pretty poignant words to say about his team when it came to the rest of the NBA. Those words were “you don’t want to see us next year.”

It sounded like useless bravado back then. The normal thing an athlete would say after a crushing season-ending loss.

Especially with the embarrassing fashion in which the Warriors were booted out. This wasn’t even the playoffs — it was the play-in. It was hard to take those words seriously.

But here we are. The Warriors are Western Conference champions, Curry is the West’s MVP, and they’ve got a shot to win their 4th title in 8 years.

It’s safe to say Curry was right. Nobody wanted to see the Warriors.
