This new pop-up desk from Logitech wants to raise the WFH game

Logitech Casa pop-up desk

Logitech is trying to help remote workers raise their game, literally and figuratively. The Swiss company's latest accessory, the Casa Pop-Up Desk, is aimed at hybrid or remote workers that need a space-saving solution for their setup. The premise is simple: an all-in-one workstation housing a wireless Bluetooth trackpad and keyboard that doubles as a laptop stand

While this is a first-of-its-kind product from Logitech, it’s not hard to see the genesis for the idea. The company is already known for its great mice (number one spot on our list of best mice) and keyboards (number one spot on our best keyboards round-up). And in a post-pandemic world where 44% of Brits are either fully remote or hybrid (according to the UK’s Office for National Statistics), there’s a lot of people looking to make WFH more viable. This presents a stylishly ergonomic way to lift a laptop to eye-level, without resorting to a stack of books, empty boxes or a costly standing desk.

The process for using the Casa is simple: open the cover and pop out the keyboard and trackpad (there’s a third compartment used to store wires, pens or other things) before slotting the cover into its magnetic groove to support your laptop base.

Logitech says the stand is designed to support most laptops — from 10-inches to 17-inches — and up to a weight of 7.5kgs (265 ounces). However, not all products will work flawlessly; Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet line-up is one such example

Right now, the company is limiting the £179/AU$350 Casa Pop-Up Desk to just the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, with plans to extend to other markets “at a later date”.

The Casa comes in three color options: Nordic Calm (sand/off-white), Bohemian Blush (rose), and Classic Chic (deep green/graphite). The keyboard and trackpad are designed to work with Windows, ChromeOS, iPadOS and macOS. However, Mac users will need to install the Logi Options+ app in order to make sure all the trackpad gestures from Apple’s desktop OS carry over.

The keyboard, meanwhile, is minimalist but still packs in a row of function keys at the top, including media controls and a dedicated emoji key. Sadly, there's no backlight. Both trackpad and keyboard charge via USB-C and Logitech states battery life for the former is three weeks while the latter runs to five months. Included in the package is a USB C-to-USB C cable that sits in the storage compartment.

The Casa comes with a two-year manufacturer’s guarantee and, as the company puts it, is designed to make for a healthier work/life balance. At the end of the working day, everything folds down into an attractive package that wouldn’t look out of place next to leather-bound tomes on a bookshelf or coffee table.

"Working long hours in front of a PC can take a toll on the body, especially when you do not have a fixed workspace," said Joseph Mingori, vice president of Mobile Solutions & Partnerships at Logitech. "With Casa Pop-Up Desk, we are able to deliver a sustainable, cross-OS compatible, and ergonomic solution that addresses workspace limitations so people feel energized at the end of the workday.”

In the U.K., the Casa Pop-Up Desk will be sold exclusively at John Lewis and Logitech's online store.
