Three powersport machines. In this economy?!
My good sir and madam, what do you make of me? I'm not made of money! And, honestly, neither is anyone else. As more and more big brands throughout the industry contract, both on the regular motorcycle and larger powersport sides, it's becoming clearer that the hey-days of pandemic spending are things of the past. Folks are looking for deals while trying to access the great outdoors. They're looking for things that'll get them out into the field but can still be used every day. They're looking for a Swiss-Army knife.
Apparently, Canadian startup Avvenire took that concept a little too literally when developing the 3-in-1 Combat, as it can transform from a street-legal motorcycle to a dirt bike to a full-blow backcountry snow bike all with just a few simple tools.
I wonder if it also comes with a pair of tweezers and a corkscrew?
Based around a 4.8 kWh battery pack—oh yeah, this baby is electric—the Combat is basically a motorcycle with some swappable features. It has a top speed of 37 mph, while the battery output allows it to go a full 43 miles on a full charge. Both of which are more than enough for outdoor adventures that tend to tire you out. And, in total, it weighs 242 pounds in motorcycle configuration, and can handle riders up to 286 pounds. Solid.
The swappable nature comes down to the tires and/or track and ski setup, however.
According to the brand, you'll be able to easily swap from street tires, to fat off-road tires, to a ski and track setup, as well as combination of track and tire, though I'm not sure why. Maybe muddy terrain? But the system is clear, it's meant for folks who want rugged capability, but can't afford to have three to four different machines both taking space up in their garage or costing them three monthly payments.
It makes sense, which is why the Founder's edition of the Combat has already sold out, even with its $10,000 price tag. That said, if you want to pick up a Combat for cheaper, the company has opened up further reservations until the end of next month where customers will be treated to a $2,000 price-slash. Pretty neat if you ask me.
